Volunteer · Medical & Non-Medical

There is a place for you on this team.

Doctors, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, teachers, students, friends. Every name on this page is here because someone said yes.

Why we need you

The work only happens because people show up.

For over twenty years, IMO has run free medical outreaches in Jos and Lagos — surgeries, dental care, eye care, lab work, prescription medicine, prayer. None of it happens without volunteers. A typical outreach week takes between 60 and 150 volunteers on the ground, almost all of them paying their own way to be there.

You don’t have to be a surgeon to belong here. You have to be willing.

“There is nothing more fulfilling than helping other people.”

Who we need

Three kinds of yes.

Medical Volunteers

Surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR nurses, recovery nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, optometrists, pharmacists, lab technicians. If you have clinical training, we have patients waiting.

Non-Medical Volunteers

Triage, intake, pharmacy support, prayer team, hospitality, logistics, translators, photographers. The work behind the work — and absolutely no outreach happens without it.

Trainers & Teachers

CPR instructors, nursing-workshop leads, community-health educators. In September 2024, our team trained and CPR-certified 41 nurses in a single workshop. We want to do more of that.

Initially, I imagined how tasking it would be to attend to patients from morning to evening, but as the mission went on I saw the smiles we put on people’s faces and it melted my heart.

Four ways to be part of this

Pray. Connect. Invest. Join.

01

Pray

Prayer is where every outreach begins. Set an alarm for noon and pray with us — for the patients, the surgeons, the surgeries that haven’t been scheduled yet.

02

Connect

Come to a volunteer meeting. Meet the team, ask questions, hear what an outreach actually looks like. Medical and non-medical welcome — bring a friend.

03

Invest

It takes money to do almost anything. A one-time gift or monthly support keeps the lights on, the supplies stocked, and the next mission funded.

04

Join

Get on the plane. Use your gifts on the ground in Jos. There is tremendous fulfillment when God uses what you already have to reach someone you have never met.
