TRAINING
Strengthening the nurses who hold Africa’s frontline.
Free, hands-on workshops for African nurses — because the people who deliver 24-hour care deserve continuous, current, and compassionate education.
WHY THIS WORK MATTERS
Nurses are our heroes.
Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, with well over 200 million people — and it falls far below the World Health Organization’s critical threshold of 23 nurses per 10,000 population. If current trends in health-workforce recruitment and retention continue, the WHO projects Africa will be significantly short of the nurses it needs by 2030.
African nurses face job dissatisfaction tied to working conditions, hospital environments, and a lack of adequate ongoing training. They’re the frontline — 24-hour care, prolonged direct contact with patients and families. IMO is committed to standing with them through free Nursing Workshops that improve the standard of nursing practice across the continent.
We salute every dedicated nurse and doctor working through unsatisfactory conditions to keep their communities alive. You are our heroes.
WHAT THE WORKSHOP COVERS
Three pillars of every IMO Nursing Workshop.
Hands-On Clinical Practice
Most African nurses receive classroom theory only. We bring procedures, simulations, and bedside technique into the room — the practical layer that turns knowledge into competence.
BLS Certification
Every workshop includes Basic Life Support exams. Attendees leave with credentials that travel with them — portable, recognized, and immediately useful at the bedside.
Compassion & Standards of Care
Patient dignity, family communication, and the small clinical practices that prevent long-term complications. The work that turns a competent nurse into a trusted one.
This workshop has been like a ray of light in a tunnel. The hands-on experience is so helpful — most nurses have only classroom and theoretical education.

VOICES FROM THE WORKSHOP
What nurses say after they’ve been in the room.
“It blows my mind that IMO is offering this workshop for free. Nurses are the heart of the health care system — it is of the essence that we receive continuous and updated education.”
Basirat Adetokunbo
“I didn’t believe it because it was free. Seminars like this are usually not offered for free. Even after I was accepted I was still skeptical — until I came to the venue.”
Karina Nwannukwu
“I am a pediatric nurse. I learned to treat my patients with respect and compassion. I will put myself in the shoes of my patients and their families.”

Our workshops run on volunteers, instructors, and donors who believe African nurses deserve the same continuing education the rest of the world takes for granted.
